FEDERICA MONTANARO

Federica Montanaro is a Ph.D. candidate in Human Rights, Global Politics, and Sustainability at the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, Italy. Her research adopts a multidisciplinary approach, focusing on the legal and practical complexities of border zones, especially maritime borders, and the use of open-source investigation tools in the context of human rights. She has experience as a legal researcher and advisor in both academic and institutional settings, and is a volunteer with the Red Cross, specializing in emergency response. During her time in Athens, she will focus on sea-borne migration, search and rescue (SAR), and law of the sea.
