ELENI METHYMAKI

Eleni Methymaki is a Lecturer in International Law at the University of Glasgow. She holds an LL.M. with specialisation in International Law from the University of Cambridge, and is currently finalising her DPhil thesis on the role of domestic law in international adjudication at the University of Oxford. She has previously studied law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the University of Glasgow, and Freie Universität Berlin.

Eleni was previously Departmental Lecturer in Public International Law at the Oxford Law Faculty, and has held Research Associate positions at the University of Glasgow (2016-2018) and at Leuphana University Lüneburg (2021-2022). She has also taught international law topics at various Oxford Colleges, the Queen Mary University of London, Tartu University, and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Uzbekistan, and has ample experience in executive education. Eleni has published on a range of international law topics, including international inspections, immunities, sanctions, the relationship between international and domestic law, and international investment law, and has edited the third edition of the OUP Commentary of the Statute of the International Court of Justice (2019). Beyond academia, Eleni is a Greek-qualified lawyer and is experienced in advising states, international organisations, and private parties on international law matters and dispute resolution, including before the International Court of Justice and investment tribunals.
