Assistant Professor of International Law
Anastasios Gourgourinis is an Assistant Professor of Public International Law at the Faculty of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in International Economic Law.
He is a Research Fellow at the Academy of Athens and a membre associé of the Centre de Recherche sur le Droit des Marchés et des Investissements Internationaux de Dijon (CREDIMI), Université de Bourgogne. He is also a member of the Board of Editors of the International Community Law Review (De Gruyter Brill).
Between 2023-2025, he acted as the principal investigator for the research project “International Economic Law and Inclusiveness in Greek Society”, funded by the Greek Foundation for Research and Innovation (H.F.R.I.) within the framework of the call “Basic research Financing (Horizontal support of all Sciences)” under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0” funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU (H.F.R.I. Project Number: 016119).
Anastasios is the academic supervisor of the Summer Law School on International Investment Law, organized annually by the Athens Public International Law Center and ELSA Athens, convenes the Trade Law Clinic project, and coaches the teams which annually represent the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in the Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot, the ELSA Moot Court Competition on WTO Law and the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.
He has served in the past as Rapporteur and Secretary of the Scientific Council of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as member of the MAC Protocol Supervisory Authority Ad Hoc Committee constituted by the UNIDROIT Governing Council.
He holds an LL.B. and an LL.M from the Faculty of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as well as an LL.M. (awarded with Distinction) and a Ph.D. from University College London.
