EVA TZAVALA

Eva Tzavala is a Legal Adviser at the Greek National Commission for Human Rights. As a researcher of AthensPIL, she has successfully participated and assisted in the management of national or EU funded research programs (Aristeia II Energy at Sea 2014-2016, Jean Monnet Module Migration Flows 2016-2019, ELIDEK Borderless Challenges 2020-2021, Jean Monnet Network MAPS 2019-2021). She holds an LLB from the University of Athens and an LLM from the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne. For her PhD studies, she was awarded a scholarship by the National Scholarship Foundation and Max Planck Institute of Luxembourg. She has teaching experience on public international law, humanitarian law, human rights law and refugee law. In the past, she was appointed, for several years, as a member of the Independent Appeal Committees of the Ministry for Migration and Asylum and has previously worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (National Office in Greece), the United Nations Secretariat (Office of Legal Affairs, USA) and the Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights (a Greek non profit foundation with an ECOSOC consultative status).
