Registration is now open for the 3rd edition of Jean Monnet Summer School on Migration Flows

Athens PIL is pleased to announce that registration for this year’s Jean Monnet Summer School on Migration Flows is now open!

The third edition of our Jean Monnet Summer School dedicated to migration flows (challenges and perspectives under international and EU law) will take place at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens on 17-21 June 2019. The Summer School offers an intensive interdisciplinary 5-day course with lectures, seminars, tutorials and simulation exercises led by academic experts and practitioners in refugee and migration law.

This year’s teaching team will comprise Professor Philippe De Bruycker (Jean Monnet Chair for European Law on Immigration & Asylum, Scientific Coordinator of the REDIAL project at the Migration Policy Centre and Professor in several institutions), Professor Maria Gavouneli (Associate Professor of International Law, Faculty of Law, University of Athens), Professor George Kritikos (Assistant Professor in Historical Geography of Modern Times, Department of Geography, Harokopion University), Katerina Linos (Professor of Law,  UC Berkeley School of Law, Co-Faculty Director, Miller Institute for Global Challenges and the Law), Dr Violeta Moreno-Lax (Senior Lecturer in Law, Director of the Immigration Law programme, Queen Mary University of London), Markella Papadouli (The AIRE Centre), Professor Irini Papanicolopulu (Associate Professor in International Law, Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca), Dr Efthymios Papastavridis (Postdoctoral Researcher in Law of the Sea, University of Oxford), Professor Photini Pazartzis (Professor of International Law and Director of the Athens PIL, Faculty of Law, University of Athens), Professor Manolis Perakis (Assistant Professor in EU Law, University of Athens) and Dr Maria Varaki (Lecturer in International Law, War Studies Department, King's College London).

The course targets mature postgraduate students and early-stage researchers as well as practicing lawyers, policy-makers, NGO workers, international agency staff and other professionals working with refugees and migrants.

The lectures will be delivered in English. A certificate of attendance will be given to all participants. Those who so wish may also sit an examination for the Athens PIL Summer Course Diploma.

Registration process

To register please fill in this online form with your personal details, affiliation and short CV.

The participation fee is 150€ (Early Bird registration) for participants who complete their registration (including deposit of the participation fee) by May 15th and 200€ for applications received thereafter. The organising team will send you an acceptance letter shortly after receiving your application form with more information on how to pay the participation fee and complete your registration.
